In this column, I plead for another "Star Wars" character to go "Solo":
I understand “Solo,” your latest “Star Wars Story,” did not have the big opening weekend you had anticipated. In its three-day domestic weekend launch, the film brought in only $84 million, which is the weakest opener for a “Star Wars” movie since you bought Lucasfilm.
Even one of the prequels, “Revenge of the Sith,” made more than “Solo” did in its opening, and that’s in 2005 dollars.
But I’m calling on you to cool your jets and slowly back away from that whiteboard — yes that one, where you have plans all written out for “Solo” sequels and other “Star Wars” spinoffs. I see you with that dry eraser and that red marker, and I urge you: Back away. Be one with the Force.
Because whatever the box office says, I need you to make a “Solo” sequel for one reason: And her name is Qi’ra.
