After months of controversial music video releases critical of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Neon Trees frontman Tyler Glenn's first solo album, "Excommunication," hits shelves Friday.

"I could have made an easy digestible pop record, but I wanted to use the opportunity to put my name on something that was really meaningful and personal," Glenn said.
